Optomap Scan

Optomap Scanning

An Optomap scan is a great overall look at the back of the eye and is suitable for patients of all ages. It is sometime termed as ‘ultra-wide retinal imaging.’

It is a very quick scan and currently provides the widest-angle scan that we can obtain of the back of the eye. It captures 82% or 200 of the retina in a single shot (this compares to 15% and 45 degree field when using traditional fundus photography.)

It also uses a technique called autofluorescence that can show early changes in retinal functionality.
