Axial Length Measurement

Axial Length Measurement (for Myopia Management)

When a young child becomes short-sighted they often need stronger glasses as their eyes grow. We now believe that we can reduce this happening to some extent, and the overall term for this is myopia management.

When someone is short-sighted, it is because their eye is too long. The length of the eye is called the Axial length and instruments used to measure this are called Biometers.

We always use a biometer to check that our myopia control therapies are working. We use a Topcon Myah to measure both axial length and corneal topography.
