Optomap Scan

Optomap Scanning

An Optomap Scan is a great overall look at the back of the eye and is suitable for patients of all ages. It is sometime termed as ‘ultra-wide retinal imaging.’

It is a very quick scan and currents provides the widest angle scan that we can obtain of the back of the eye. It covers approximately 82% of the retina and a 200 degree field angle in a single capture (this compares to 15% and 45 degree field when using traditional fundus photography.)

It also uses a technique called autofluorescene that can show early changes in how the retina functions.
